In the Beginning.......
The Almighty Alpha Chapter of Lambda Alpha Upsilon:
Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. was founded with certain princples and purposes in mind. These ideologies and
principles can be combined to express one idea and belief. This belief is that the time has come for the Latino
community, as a people, to reach its potential and become an integral part of society. Latinos have been and will be an
influence around the world, and in the United States of America the Latino community will be the largest ethnic
community by the year 2000. Be aware, though, that in order for us to accept this challenge we must be prepared.
We the brothers of Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. are working hard as the architects and builders of the
foundation of the future. Through our growth as a people, we Latinos must not forget our heritage and culture, because these are the
roots which form the common bond between us. As Latinos, we have been making our mark in the history books of life and
we must now pave the path and prepare the torch for the next generation to carry on. We must be deeply rooted in the
highest ideals and morals, so that our light can shine throughout the world.

In Loving Memory |
Lambda Chapter:
Founding Father Jose Andres Chiu
March 27, 1966 - November 20, 2000
"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when the day is done. I'd
like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times, laughing times, bright and sunny days. I'd like
the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when the day is done."
